We had a really low-key Easter at home with just the two of us. It was perfect! We had a very non-traditional Easter dinner and ate pasta. But the pasta was Easter themed! In the shape of bunnies, eggs, chicks and chicks hatching out of eggs (Yes, the chick hatching out of an egg was a single piece of very elaborate pasta). It was quad-colored and so good that I want to eat it year-round.
But the very best part of Easter weekend was dyeing our eggs! I used crayons on hot, just-boiled eggs, which caused the wax to melt on the egg, leaving vibrant colors. Then I dipped them in dye. They're my favorite Easter eggs I've ever made!
I want china in the pattern of the pink and blue flowered eggs!
Kyle got me a little basket of chocolate stuff and surprised me with an Easter egg hunt in our apartment. (No, I'm not too old!) He hid the chocolate eggs so well that I couldn't find half of them and he couldn't remember where they were. Finding random eggs months later as a kid was always the best thing though. And as if I need more chocolate now anyway!
Kyle saw this poor little bunny while he was candy-shopping. She was the last one there and abandoned on an empty shelf, so he felt a bit sorry for her and brought her home to put in my Easter basket! I named her Snowflake. Oh and she does have a second eye, somewhere under that fur!
Pretty Easter flowers.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter/Passover/weekend! Did you do anything festive? Any last-minute egg-dyeing?
Happy Monday!
